First Steps Children

  • Teddybear Room "Babies"

Our youngest children start their nursery journey in the Teddybear room. Babies can join us from 3 months of age and stay in the Teddy Bear room until they are 2 years old. Children are encouraged to explore the world of colour, shape and texture through the use of natural light, toys, adult interaction and lots of sensory experiences. We work closely with you to ensure your baby’s home routine is followed. This provides continuity and stability for you and your child. We have lots of sensory play experiences as well as quiet relaxing times. The adult to child ratio in Teddybears is 1:3

  • Sunshine Room "Toddlers"

Our Sunshine room is full of busy energy and your child will be able to experience a wider range of educational yet fun activities that have been carefully selected to stimulate their ever-expanding minds. We will work closely with you when the time comes for potty training, to ensure the process is as stress free as possible for you and your child. In the Sunshine room, children prepare for pre-school, so self-selection of activities and independence is encouraged throughout the day. The adult to child ratio is 1:5 in the Sunshine room.

  • Nursery Pre-school

For children age 3-5, with an adult to child ratio of 1:8, the children’s interests are at the centre of all planning. The day passes by quickly, as the fun never stops as the children learn through play. During free play sessions, children are encouraged to be independent and to make their own choices from a wide range of different activities. A structured session is centred on individual learning where progress is carefully observed and recorded by your child’s Key Person. This, coupled with lots of fresh air, provides a busy day for all in the Pre-School Rooms. At the end of their time in pre-school, the children will have increased levels of confidence and be socially interactive, ensuring a smooth transition to full-time school.

  • Term Time Pre-school

The Term Time pre-school operates in exactly the same way as our Nursery Pre-school for ages between 2 and 5. We have ‘Term Time’ only sessions between the hours of 8.45am and 2.45.pm, where you can use your government 15 or 30 hour funding. Your child will be required to bring a packed lunch in the Term Time pre-school. There is a small additional charge to cover all additional services above and beyond the EYFS minimal service that the funding covers. Please speak to Lauren our Manager, or Chloe in admin for further details.
