📚World Book Day Magic at First Steps Nursery
World Book Day is always one of the most joyful dates in our calendar, and this year did not disappoint. From the moment the doors opened, the nursery was transformed into a colourful parade of favourite storybook characters. Paddington Bear wandered in with his suitcase, superheroes zoomed through the room, Elmer brought a burst of patchwork colour, and Mickey Mouse arrived with his trademark cheer. Everywhere you looked, imagination was in full swing.
And it wasn’t just the children who embraced the fun. The whole team got into the spirit of the day — with our very own management duo, Lauren and Chantelle, stealing the show as Shrek and Donkey. Their grand entrance caused absolute delight, and the children couldn’t get enough of their playful antics.
📚 A Day Filled With Storytelling Fun
To celebrate the magic of books, our activities throughout the day were all inspired by stories and characters the children love. They enjoyed:
Story-themed crafts, finger painting the Rainbow Fish and their own mini book marks
Interactive storytelling, where little voices helped bring tales to life
Sensory trays linked to favourite stories, sparking curiosity and imaginative play
Role-play adventures, where bears, elephants, ogres, superheroes, and mice all played side by side
The nursery was buzzing with creativity, laughter, and that special kind of excitement that only stories can spark.

World Book Day is a wonderful reminder of how powerful stories are in early childhood. They help children build language, confidence, empathy, and a lifelong love of reading. Seeing the children step into the shoes of their favourite characters — and watching the staff join in with such enthusiasm — made the day truly magical.
